FIELD: metallurgy, restoration of sections of graphite electrodes of electric arc furnaces after exploitation. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes cylindrical feeler having along its length working portion that may perform rotation and stem portion; carrier; member engaging with feeler; slide; and thread cutting tool. Stem portion of feeler may perform reciprocation motion. Carrier includes main portion and movable portion that may perform radial motion relative to main portion for adjusting cutting depth of cutting tool and for removing tool at termination of thread cutting. Main portion of carrier includes safety device for preventing damage of feeler and member engaging with it at termination of thread cutting and at returning engaging member to initial position. Main portion of carrier also includes movable stop for limiting movement of engaging member by predetermined cutting length. Movable portion of carrier includes jointly connected members with adjustment mechanism for changing their inclination angle relative to cut thread. Member engaging with feeler has separate parts that may be moved one relative to another and fixed in order to take up axial gaps.
