FIELD: methods for treating, transporting and packing coils of metallic strip, possibly in rolling shops of metallurgical plants and in metal working plants. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of detecting features of coil telescopicity at rotating coil; at detecting telescopicity inclining coil relative to its horizontal axis to telescopicity side due to changing spatial position of driven rollers; placing coil in horizontal position; rotating it in direction opposite to coiling direction until partially loosening telescopic turns; and then inclining coil to telescopicity side and rotating it in direction coinciding with that of coiling.
