FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in welding of rolled bands at changing over to other operations in process of machining. Proposed installation contains at least three types of processing equipment providing, in turn, cutting of two edges of metal bands to be connected, butt welding of said edges and smoothing down the weld by removing excess material. Installation has tools carriage installed for sliding parallel to direction of band movement. At least two support frames are mounted on carriage for sliding square to said direction of band movement. Each frame carries one or other type of equipment for connection of metal bands, positioners of some or other processing equipment for connecting bands in common operating position owing to sliding of tools carriage, and means to control crosswise sliding of corresponding processing equipment for using the equipment in process of band connection.
