FIELD: sewage treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sewage treatment from heavy metal ions, mainly zinc ions, in metallurgy, electroplating, electric engineering, polygraphy and paper and pulp manufacture. Method involves treatment of sewage with sodium boron hydride as a reducing agent taken in the amount 10-50 mg/l of sewage. Then cellulose-containing milled hydrophilic sorbent that is product of waste of newspaper and typographic paper is added to the treatment zone in air medium of hammer crusher. Sorbent shows the following fraction composition, wt.%: small fraction of size 0.5-0.9 mm, 15-25; large fraction of size 1.0-1.5 mm, 75-85 in the amount 1-5 g/1 l of sewage. Method provides possibility of directed isolation of not only iron but other metals, mainly zinc, from sewage. EFFECT: improved method and enhanced effectiveness of treatment. 1 tbl
