FIELD: refractory materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to refractory material based on zircon and zirconium dioxide and method of their preparing. The sintered material is prepared from charge comprising from 5% to 40% of zircon. Material shows the following chemical composition, wt.%: ZrO2 + HfO2, 82-96; SiO2, 1.7-14; TiO2, 0.2-3; Y2O3, 0.4-5; Al2O3, 0.2-2.5; impurities, <1. Method of article making involves molding and calcinations of molded article at 1400-1650 C. The use of proposed method ensures to avoid cracks formation in making blocks of large size and mass. Refractory materials prepared from charge based on zircon and zirconium dioxide can be used in glass-melting furnaces.
