FIELD: metallurgy; methods of production of malleable cast iron for small castings or shots for cleaning castings. SUBSTANCE: method includes melting cast iron and cooling it in salt bath to temperature of 750-850 C, after which salt bath is heated to temperature of 950-1100 C and is held for 0.5-2 h; then, it is cooled down. Proposed method ensures production of cast iron with stable microstructure at improved mechanical properties. There is no need in precision monitoring of chemical composition of starting materials.
