FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves twisting thread discharged from drawing zone by turning it around its axis and around bobbin; deflecting thread portion in the lower part of cylinder to side opposite bobbin in direction perpendicular to spindle by distance smaller or equal to fiber length; untwisting thread under tension and, upon recovering of twisting, returning to bobbin for subsequent winding thereon. Apparatus has guide positioned on annular plank concentrically to spindle and made in the form of chamber equipped with annular longitudinal slit, and runner disposed for rotation and rolling inside chamber. Said chamber and runner are made toroidal, radius of section curvature of internal working surface of toroidal chamber exceeding radius of section curvature of external working surface of toroidal runner. Chamber is made detachable. Annular longitudinal slit is formed in chamber wall facing spindle. Upper part of said wall is made of antifriction material. Toroidal chamber is provided with through charging slot positioned at an acute angle with respect to radius and oriented in direction of rotation of spindle. Runner catching device made in the form of, for example, magnet is mounted at charging slot entrance. Height of toroidal chamber interior is 0.55-0.95 of runner outer diameter. Width of annular longitudinal slit and of through charging slot is at least 0.55-0.95 the diameter of toroidal runner section. Shortest distance from internal surface of toroidal chamber to internal surface of toroidal runner is at least 0.25-0.95 the length of filament of thread. Width of annular longitudinal slit and width of through charging slot is equal to at least 2-10-fold thickness of thread under process. Method and apparatus are designed for spinning, twisting and like machines.
