FIELD: removal of ions of metals from cresol or from mixtures of aromatic cresol- containing compounds. SUBSTANCE: content of water in mixture is regulated by adding water to about 0.5 mass-%, preferably from 1 to 10 mass-% . Water-cresol mixture thus obtained is passed through acid ion exchanger. As a result, level of cleaning of cresol mixture reaches lesser than 20 parts per billion. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 3 cl, 2 ex
