FIELD: microbiology, microbiological industry, biotechnology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for preparing nutrient media used for culturing microorganisms of leptospira family. Culturing of leptospira is carried out in aqueous-serum medium containing enzymatic muscle hydrolyzate in the required amount of chemical compounds at pH 7.4-7.6. Culturing of leptospira is carried out according to existing instructions at temperature 28-30 C for 5-7 days. In experiments for culturing the following industrial strains of leptospira of serological groups are used: Grippotyphosa, Pomona, Tarassovi, Interohemorrhagia, Canicola, Seiro. Invention can be used in industrial and laboratory culturing leptospirae with aim of preparing vaccines for prophylaxis of leptospirosis in agriculture animals and humans. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness and economy of medium. 4 tbl, 4 ex
