FIELD: corrosion protection. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protection of metals against corrosion in neutral aqueous media by using poly-1,2-dimethyl-vinyl-pyridinium methosulfate as corrosion inhibitor for use in a variety of areas including waste water transportation in pipelines, treatment thereof in apparatuses, and preparation of cooling agents and calcium and magnesium chlorides-containing brines. Utilized reagent has molecular weight (2,5÷4,5)×106 and is depicted by empirical formula (C10H15NO4S)n, wherein n=10000- 20000. EFFECT: reduced corrosion rate at low concentration of inhibitor thereby lowering expenses and harmful effect on process characteristics of neutral aqueous media. 1 tbl, 6 ex
