FIELD: geophysics. SUBSTANCE: invention is related to devices intended for determination of location and parameters of underground pipe-lines, both metallic and non-metallic, fiber-optical cables including those which do not carry any metallic components. According to invention antenna when moved crosses bands of distortions of electromagnetic field created by pipe-line laid under ground. In this case increment in phase difference relative to value assumed to be background level and compensated by voltage from output of correction unit takes place. As result growing voltage emerges across output of integrator which leads to operation of comparator and to arrival from its output of direct pulse and pulse inverted in inverter to inputs of computers. Computer analyzes pulses arriving from output of comparator to its inputs, compares their lengths and pauses between them. Depending on interrelation of these values and their relation to other values entered into computer beforehand computer controls proper light-emitting diodes signaling presence of underground pipe-line and identifies material ( metal or plastic ) of which it is made.
