METHOD FOR MAKING POWDER WIRE IN METALLIC ENVELOPE WITH GROOVED SEAM AND TECHNOLOGICAL LINE FOR METHOD EMBODIMENT Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2203169 C2

FIELD: manufacture of powder wire in metallic envelope with seam used, mainly for out-of-furnace treatment of steel and cast iron. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of profiling U-shaped channel successively by four passes in horizontal stands arranged in front of metering apparatus; successively shaping tubular blank and grooved seam by four passes in drive vertical and horizontal stands arranged behind stand which performs compaction of powder in channel in rolling stand by means of upper roll having oval-shaped groove whose radius is equal to radius of shaped tubular blank; reducing tubular blank with grooved seam by successively deforming in two driven and in two non-driven three-roll stands. Line for making powder wire in metallic envelope with grooved seam is provided with chain drive unit for rotating rolling rolls with reduction gear in the form of chain transmissions embracing each pair of adjacent stands. Output shaft of reduction gear is joined with driven end of roll of one stand of mill. Line is also provided with first aggregate having four horizontal stands and arranged in front of metering apparatus; driven horizontal and vertical stands arranged behind shaping vertical stand; and two reduction two-stand aggregates having three-roll stands. In stands of first aggregate rolls are driven ones; in second aggregate rolls are non-riven. Horizontal shafts of three-roll stands of driven reduction aggregate are mutually connected through cylinder pinions with transfer ratio providing increased rolling speed in second stand while taking into account elongation factor in first stand of aggregate. Two-stand aggregate of three-roll stands with non-driven rolls has mechanism for group radial adjustment of rolls. Invention provides enhanced quality and stability of process for forming U-shaped channel and grooved seam due to elimination of edge waviness in vertical walls of formed channel and due to prevention of powder penetration to groove; improved coefficient of powder filling of wire due to compaction of powder in channel by means of upper roll with oval-shaped groove and due to reducing tubular blank by successively deforming it in two driven and two non-driven three-roll stands. EFFECT: enlarged assortment of wire formed from initial band of the same width. 5 cl, 11 dwg
