FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of plastic, quickly hardening tapping hole mixes for closing tapping passages of blast furnaces operated under different conditions. According to the first embodiment of invention, tapping hole mix is prepared by stirring blend containing, wt.%: surfactant, 0.5-2.0; carbon-containing materials, 9-15; pitch, 1-3; silicon carbide, 6-9; refractory oxide materials, the balance, plus 9-12 wt.% of organic free-running binding premix contains, wt.%: phenol resin, 18-30; phenol resin solvent, 4- 11; plasticizer, 6-15; heavy petroleum processing bottoms, 40-64; and solvent for the latter, the balance. According to the second embodiment, blend contains, wt.%: surfactant, 0.5-2.0; carbon-containing material, 9-25; pitch, 1-5; silicon carbide, 9-15; refractory oxide materials, the balance, plus 9-12 wt.% of organic free-running binding premix containing, wt. %: thermoplastic phenol resin, 0-47; thermosetting phenol resin, 92-10.5; phenol resin solvent, 0.5-14; plasticizer, the balance. According to the third embodiment, blend contains, wt.%: surfactant, 0.5-2.0; carbon-containing material, 9-45; pitch, 1.5-5; silicon carbide, 2-9; refractory oxide materials, the balance, plus 11-17 wt.% of premix containing, wt.%: phenol resin, 30-70; lignosulfonate solution, 62-25; plasticizer, the balance. In all embodiments, premix is prepared preliminarily in a separate mixer and, prior to be used, heated to 40-65 C. Before adding premix, blend is moistened to 1.1-3.0% moisture and solution warmed to 28-32 C. Carbon- containing material is added to the blend in two fractions: one below 100 mcm and the other 1-3 mm at their ratio 1:(1.5-3). Premix is dozed in two portions: first 40-70% of the required amount is added and stirred for 2-3 min and then the rest of premix is added and stirring is continued until plastic mass is obtained. Tapping hole mix is ripened in chamber at 20-45 C to yield product with plasticity 12-18% (25 C), compaction strength after heat treatment at 800 C in coke charge 2-9 MPa, porosity 24-34%, and level of volatiles after drying at 110 C - 9-12%. EFFECT: increased resistance to corrosive effect of molten metal and acidic and alkaline slags. 9 cl, 2 tbl, 2 ex
