FIELD: machine engineering, technological processes for working precise parts, for example in lathes and round grinding machine tools at mounting blanks in the form of shaft in centers. SUBSTANCE: method relates to shaft mounted in rolling bearing assemblies and comprises steps of measuring beating of rotating shaft until detecting five-fold repetition of period of its first periodic component and simultaneously fixing number of shaft revolutions; in order to increase working accuracy, imparting rotation to shaft from its position corresponding to minimum beating and imparting additional rotation to retainers of bearing assemblies of shaft towards side opposite to working direction at frequency determined according to given expression for ball bearing assemblies or for roller cone bearing assemblies.
