FIELD: machine engineering, namely working different precise surfaces in lathes and grinding machine tools. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of measuring beatings of shaft of mechanism of machine tool mounted in rolling bearing assemblies until registering five-fold repetition of period of its first periodical component; simultaneously registering numbers of shaft revolutions; then dividing value of beating amplitude of shaft, numeric row of numbers of shaft revolutions and allowance range of beatings of blank surface by the same quantity of intervals; matching up above mentioned intervals and then removing surface layer of those blanks whose allowance range interval corresponds to period of machine tool operation according to interval of numbers of shaft revolutions and to interval of shaft beatings. In order to enhance accuracy degree of worked surfaces and to increase efficiency, before measuring beatings of mechanism of machine tool arresting rotation of retainers relative to body of said mechanism; positioning retainers coaxially relative to rotation axis of shaft; changing angular position of retainers by rotating them around shaft axis and fixing their angular position relative to body of mechanism at preliminarily selected angular pitch and measuring shaft beating; selecting among all angular positions of retainers such position that corresponds to the least value of first periodical component of shaft beating and again fixing retainers in that position for predetermined time period of exploitation of rolling bearing assemblies; before removing surface layer of blank detecting such interval of numerical row of numbers of shaft revolutions in which machine tool operates. It is possible to use spindle as mechanism of machine tool. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and improved accuracy of working. 2 cl, 1 ex, 1 tbl
