FIELD: varnish-and-paint industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of film formers based on diene rubbers and can be used for preparation of varnish-and-paint materials. Invention aims at developing method for preparation of film former with good consumer's properties, which can be achieved by oxidizing diene rubber or mixture of diene rubbers, possibly in presence of vegetable oil. Mixture to be oxidized includes solvent and oxidation is effected at heating. Additive, so-called "oxidate", is also used, which is selected from: vegetable oil oxidate; oxidate obtained by oxidizing diene rubber in presence of vegetable oil oxidate; oxidate obtained by oxidizing diene rubber mixture in presence of mixture of oxidized diene rubber and oxidized vegetable oil, and other oxidates obtained by preliminary oxidation of various mixtures of (oxidized) rubbers and oils.
