FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves radially compressing cylindrical work piece and delivering it into cylindrical axial compression chamber. Then, work piece is subjected to intensive axial compression. The closed introduced compression chamber end has a through canal. The canal is coaxial and usable for receiving reciprocating pushing rod having pushing surface directed into the chamber. When set in the first position, the rod pushing surface and the wall of the introduced compression chamber end build a smooth bowl-shaped form. Canal periphery diameter is less than chamber diameter and is therefore radially separated from lateral chamber walls. The rod has enough space for moving through the chamber and pushing the tampon out without meeting resistance of chamber walls. EFFECT: stable size and smooth surface tampon production. 8 cl, 14 dwg
