FIELD: power engineering; circulating water supply systems of thermal and nuclear power plants. SUBSTANCE: method involves discharge of main part of hot water to cooling pond; swirling of discharged water flow through expanding checkers provided with internal curvilinear helical guides mounted on pipeline at 45 deg. to transit flow and disposed at water surface level; water cooling; more efficient utilization of cooling-pond evaporating surface due to lifting near-bottom water layers by feeding hot water discharged to near-water part in vicinity of water intake; and selective water intake at point of discharge of hot water main part to cooling pond; heat transfer between water being cooled and atmospheric air is effected due to operation of pulsers made of minimum four curved bimetal plates disposed in chambers on flexible hose, their opposite ends forming angle of 90 deg.; chambers communicate with atmosphere by means of risers with ball mouths at their ends; these bell mouths are provided with inner curvilinear helical grooves. EFFECT: reduction of intake water temperature to theoretically possible value; enhanced efficiency of cooling-pond evaporation surface utilization. 1 cl, 3 dwg
