FIELD: power engineering; applicable in circulating water supply systems of thermal and nuclear power plants with cooling ponds. SUBSTANCE: method includes discharge of warm water onto cooling pond, its cooling and water intake, more efficient use of evaporated surface of cooling pond due to lifting of bottom water layers by supply of a part of discharge warm water to bottom part in zone of water intake. Flow of discharged warm water is swirled through widening nozzles with internal curved spiral guides installed on pipelines at angle of 45 deg to current of transit flow and located at level of water surface in pond. Water intake is performed by selective water intake device. EFFECT: reduced temperature of taken water to theoretically possible value and considerable increase of efficiency of using evaporation surface of cooling pond. 2 cl, 2 dwg
