FIELD: biotechnology, microbiology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the novel strain of bacterium Enterococcus faecium B-2240 D as producer of optically pure L-(+)-lactic acid and industrial method for preparing L-(+)-lactic acid or its salts. Method involves fermentation of monoculture of bacterium Enterococcus faecium in nutrient medium prepared from waste and secondary sources of processing industry branches, separation of cultural fluid for solid and liquid phases and isolation of end products. The strain E. faecium B-2240 D is deposited in collection-depositarium VKM and it is a highly producing producer of L-(+)-lactic acid. The use of invention ensures to obtain end products with rather low cost, yield up to 95% and optical purity up to 99.8%. EFFECT: improved preparing method, increased yield and purity of product. 10 cl, 2 tbl, 1 dwg
