FIELD: rare metals technology. SUBSTANCE: invention provides method that can be used when separating scandium from titanium/zirconium production waste and when purifying scandium concentrates to remove titanium. To that end, hydrogen peroxide is added to hydrochloric acid solution containing titanium and scandium at weight ratio of hydrogen peroxide to present titanium (0.8-10):1. Solution is neutralized and then extracted with 0.25 M solution of N-(2-hydroxy-5- nonylbenzyl)dihydroxyethylamine in octanol during 30 min at pH 2.25-3.45.
