FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves blasting copper-nickel sulfide melt at temperature of 1,250-1,600 C in two stages: at first stage oxygen blasting is initially carried out until sulfur content in melt reaches 5-7 wt%, with following blasting with gas-oxygen mixture, with oxygen content providing 10-21% of volume of oxygen in reaction products of said mixture; at second stage iron-free calcium-containing slag is put onto melt surface while gas-oxygen mixture is introduced into sulfide melt. Method is used for producing nonferrous metals, extraction of copper, nickel, platinum and precious metals from copper-nickel melts.
