SUBSTANCE: method includes displacement of receiver along subsurface pipeline route, periodic sequential measurement of electromagnetic field strength at point of interest made minimum twice, determination of error signal of two sequential measurements, integration of error signal, division of error signal by integrated error signal, comparison of value obtained with desired threshold value, and location of leak point on subsurface pipeline in case measurement result exceeds desired threshold value.
