FIELD: electrical engineering; manufacture of positive plates for alkali storage batteries. SUBSTANCE: positive carbon plate has heat absorber and active material which is mixture of nickel hydroxide and nickel powder; heat absorber is made of nickel sponge of 0.2- 2.5 g/cu. cm density with pore size of 0.6 to 2.5 mm. Proportion of active material ingredients is as follows, mass percent: nickel hydroxide, 45-75; nickel powder, 20-40; activating dope, 2-3, bulk density of nickel powder being 0.2 to 1.5 g/cu. cm. In addition active material may incorporate binder whose amount is 2 to 5 mass percent of active material. Plate surface may be covered with porous layer of alkali-resistant varnish. Cobalt or barium hydroxide compounds may be used as active material dopes. EFFECT: enhanced activity and reduced manufacturing cost of carbon plate. 6 cl, 1 ex
