FIELD: electric engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric engineering industry and may be in manufacture of alkali Ni-Cd batteries with pasted or dry-rolled negative electrode. According to the invention, the active material production method for negative electrode in alkali Ni-Cd battery provides for mixing cadmium oxide with and activating agent at the following weight ratio: 0.85÷0.95 of cadmium oxide and 0.5÷0.15 of electrolytic nickel powder as activating agent. The next stage is strong compacting to 1.3÷0.7 g/cm3 and treatment at 270÷360°C in reducing medium. The mixed active material components are heat-treated until loss in weight is 2.0÷4.5% as regard to the initial value and average size of nickel powder particles is from 0.3 to 1.7 mcm.
EFFECT: increased specific characteristics.
