METHOD FINDING CENTER OF PART OR PARTS OF TERRESTRIAL SURFACE WITH REMOTE PART OR REMOTE PARTS OF BODY OF THE EARTH'S GLOBE Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: training aids for geography, school supplies. SUBSTANCE: method consists in manufacture of ball with body of homogeneous plastic material so that center of mass of given ball is located in its geometric center. Graticule is drawn with the help of sharp object on outer spherical surface of body of ball and all terrestrial surface is represented. Part or parts of terrestrial surface which center or centers should be found by way of mechanical machining are removed from body of given globe under outline or outlines of this part or these parts so that all volume of removed part is equal to volume of metal outline or outlines. Metal outline or part is so fabricated that it comprises only one part of it if it is not crossed by equator of globe or two parts separated by equator if it is crossed by equator of globe. Outline or outlines are so anchored in point of location of removed part that radius of outer spherical surface of outline matches radius of spherical surface of given globe. Limit of minimal distance between inner spherical surface and outer spherical surface of given globe is set and it is 0.03 length of radius of outer spherical surface of body. Globe with outline or outlines anchored in its body is laid on even horizontal metal surface and is slightly pushed in any direction. After complete stop of globe sought for center of part or parts of terrestrial surface is established which should be either in point of contact of outer spherical surface of given metal outline with even horizontal solid metal surface or in point of contact of outer spherical plastic surface of body of given globe with even horizontal metal surface. EFFECT: avoidance of distortion of result in finding of sought-for center of given part or parts of terrestrial surface, which means authenticity of result. 5 cl, 7 dwg
