METHOD FOR MAKING STEEL STRIP OR SHEET Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: manufacture of steel strip or sheet for deep drawing at making cans. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of casting melt steel in continuous casting plant for making thin slab and using casting heat for feeding slab to heating apparatus; reducing it in cogging stand until intermediate thickness value and going on rolling process in finish rolling stand for making steel strip or sheet with desired thickness; in order to make strip rolled in ferrite state, continuously feeding slab or its part at least from heating apparatus at speed values practically corresponding to speed of feeding slab into cogging stand; after decreasing thickness feeding slab from cogging stand into working apparatus arranged after finish rolling stand. Strip leaves cogging stand when it is cooled until ferrite state and steel has, mainly ferrite structure. Strip rolled in ferrite state is cut by desired length pieces after achieving target thickness of strip. Then rolled strip pieces are coiled to coils of low-carbon steel with carbon content in range 0.1 - 0.01 % at total reduction value in ferrite state less than 87% and without joining of material between steel of continuous casting plant at one side and steel rolled in cogging stand at other side. In second variant of invention steel strip is cooled when its intermediate thickness is equal to 1.8 mm from austenite until ferrite state at total reduction value after rolling in ferrite state less than 90 %.
