FIELD: production of hot rolled steel strips from ferrous metal. SUBSTANCE: method involves continuous casting of endless slab from steel or ferrous metal; supplying slab to planetary hot mill, where slab is subjected to the first thickness reduction, with slab being in post-casting state; delivering slab from planetary hot mill to set of stands for subjecting it to second thickness reduction corresponding to 50% of the first thickness reduction extent to produce endless strip with average thickness of less than 1.8 mm. Apparatus has electric induction heaters positioned between pairs of stands and adapted to maintain endless strips at working temperature sufficient to effectuate second thickness reduction stage.
