FIELD: ecological and hygienic laboratory analysis of habitat to locate zones of technology-caused chemical contamination. SUBSTANCE: procedure can also be employed to evaluate effect of detrimental chemical factor in air, aqueous medium and soil, to search for causes of appearance of new nosological forms caused by man-induced effect. Impurities of various toxicity are taken out of samples of atmospheric air, water of surface source or soil, they are subjected to proper sample preparation, are transferred into chromatographic columns of chromatograph fitted with detector of nondestructive test, model mixture of two toxicants, specifically hexane and benzene, one of which being low-toxic agent and another displays high unspecified toxicity, is injected. Time of benzene retaining relative to hexane at constant temperature of thermostat is measured, relative volume of benzene retaining with reference to hexane with preset speed of carrier gas is found and content of impurities in particular zones of objects of environment is computed. EFFECT: raised authenticity of procedure of location of zones of technology-caused chemical contamination with substances showing various volatility and toxicity. 5 cl, 7 dwg
