FIELD: mining; applicable in isolation of mine workings through borehole in extinguishing of underground fires. SUBSTANCE: method includes delivery through boreholes of closed forms from air-impermeable cloth and their remote unfolding in space of emergency mine working by filling of intraforms space with compressed gas containing inhibiting filler. In this case, prior to forms delivery, formed through borehole is buffer pad from loose material on mine working floor with subsequent fastening of forms in said buffer pad. Fastening of forms is performed by anchoring with help of container introduction into buffer pad for delivery of forms through borehole. Inhibiting filler is used in form of mixture of pyrotechnic aerosol of combustion products of gas-generating charges with fire extinguishing powder and inert retarder in form of additions of gaseous nitrogen with possible combination with microcapsulated coolant. Device for method embodiment has body in form of container with gas-generating charges, means of remote ignition of charges and cooling compartment in form of vessel filled with cooling fluid. Container cylindrical body is separated into compartments and its tail part has separable protective casing accommodating folded flexible forms.
