FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed method of operation of piston internal combustion engines comes to direct transformation of translational movement of piston at expansion stroke into electric energy in linear electric generator and sequential expansion, gas exchange and compression strokes. Reciprocation of piston at compression stroke is provided by converting electric energy into kinetic energy of piston in linear electric motor converted from electric generator with provision of time delay in displacement of piston between separate cycles at moment of stopping in final expansion point. Maximum combustion pressure is raised to 25 MPa and even higher, and combustion temperature is raised to 3000 K and higher.
