GAS TRANSFER SET EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN METHOD Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: gas industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surge protection system of compressors of gas transfer sets of main gas line compressor stations. It can be used in any branches of industry where compressor plants are used. According to proposed method of emergency shutdown of gas transfer set, all parameters of gas transfer set protection are preliminarily divided into two groups and if parameter setting of first protection group is violated, antisurge cock of supercharger is opened, drive motor is switched off, inlet and outlet cocks of supercharge closed and supercharger vent cock is opened. If parameter setting of second protection group is violated, antisurge cock of supercharger is opened, after expiration of preset delay period, drive motor is switched off and inlet and outlet cocks of supercharger are closed after which vent pipe cock of supercharger is opened. Preset time of delay of simultaneous switching off of drive motor and closing of inlet and outlet cocks of supercharger is chosen equal to time required for appearance of recirculation flow through antisurge cock of said supercharger. Proposed method of emergency shutdown of gas transfer set makes it possible to prevent surging in case of emergency situations in gas transfer sets if cause of emergency shutdown does not require immediate disconnection of set and allows delay in switching off of drive motor and closing of inlet and outlet cocks for period of appearance of recirculation flow, i.e. for 2-3 s, at opening of antisurge cock, i.e. when delay for said period does not lead to irreversible processes and failures of units of gas transfer set.
