FIELD: uninterrupted detection of flaws in rails by method of acoustic nondestructive testing. SUBSTANCE: given converter has bearing member made fast to shaft that carries first and second rollers mounted uniaxially for rotation. Each roller includes two sequentially magnetized discs intercoupled by elastic rim punched with holes, guiding member made fast to shaft and located between discs of rollers in which piezoelectric pickup spring-loaded perpendicular to axis of shaft is installed. Space formed by elastic rim and discs is filled with magnetic liquid. EFFECT: expanded technical and operational potential, diminished level of loss of ultrasonic signal, raised accuracy of testing and depth of investigation. 1 cl, 1 dwg
