FIELD: ultrasound products testing.
SUBSTANCE: inventions group relates to methods and tools for testing products by ultrasound, in particular, to testing wheel sets of railway transport. The method for ultrasonic testing of a wheel set of rail transport consists in immersing the wheel set with the lower part of the wheels in immersion baths, rotating it on the stand supports, transmitting elastic waves from piezoelectric transducers to the controlled wheel through the immersion medium and sounding the specified areas of the wheels. In this case, the wheel pair is preliminarily installed on the changeable liners of the stand supports, the movable quills are brought in, the wheel pair is lifted and the axle is fixed, making it possible to rotate the wheel pair on the centers of the quills. Piezoelectric transducers, located on the side of the inner end surface and the rolling surface of the wheels, are moved to working points by means of horizontal and vertical calipers. A stand for ultrasonic testing of a wheel set of rail transport is also declared.
EFFECT: invention provides the possibility of controlling various types of wheel sets and increasing the accuracy of determining the coordinates of defects.
