FIELD: glassmaking. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacturing optical glasses based on silicon oxide matrix with filtration additives for use as light filters and laser optics elements. Transparent matrix includes uniformly distributed filtration additives composed of a set of uniformly distributed differently shaped metal nanoparticles with linear dimensions much lesser than wavelengths of absorbed spectrum bands, concentration of these particles being (1-3)•10-5 volume portions. Particular types of optical glass are those transmitting visible spectrum region and infrared spectrum region wherein indicated sets of metal (e.g., silver) nonaparticles are shaped as nanorods with length-to-diameter ratio 2.5-5.0 and as nanodisks with thickness-to diameter ratio 0.2-0.95. EFFECT: lowered glass melting temperature, essentially increased steepness of absorption curve and narrowed borders of boundary regions allowing use of the glass in filters selectively absorbing one or several optical emission bands. 3 cl, 2 dwg
