FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in designing heteroelectric materials with preset optical, electrical and magnetic properities. The heteroelectric material for influencing electromagnetic fields consists of a carrier and an agent in the carrier, which is in form of nanoparticles of a material different from material of the said carrier, which are put in the said carrier such that the average distance between the said nanoparticles is less than or is of the order of the cube root of polarisability of the said nanoparticles in the material of the said carrier. The said nanoparticles are composite and are in form of a nucleus and one or more shells from different materials such that the ratio of thickness of the shells and the radius of the nucleus provides a dielectric function value of the heteroelectric material which is different from dielectric function values of the said carrier and agent at the wavelength of the electromagnetic field to be influenced by the said heteroelectric material. The said shells have thickness of not less than 5 atomic/molecular layers.
EFFECT: broader options for making heteroelectric materials with given dielectric functions and with given frequency dependences.
