FIELD: bridge building; protection of bridge footing built on rivers at drift ice and varying level of water flow, mainly in regions under sever climatic conditions. SUBSTANCE: proposed bridge footing includes cluster of piles at high pilework and embracing ice protective envelope which copies external shape of pilework plate. Novelty of invention consists in position of piles forming single closed line in plan; ice protective envelope has varying height smoothly or stepwise increasing in way of stream and height of lower edge of aft (lower) part exceeds height of lower edge of fore (upper) part of envelope by 0.25-0.5 of its maximum diameter; ice protective envelope is matched with piles in such way that its inner vertical surface is received by cavity between piles by no less than ? and no more than 1/3 of pile diameter. EFFECT: enhanced reliability and durability due to reduction of internal ice forming.
