FIELD: metallurgy; continuous casting. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed invention, crystallizer housing is subjected to solution annealing and then wear-resistant layer of chromium is applied after which chromium-coated of crystallizer is hardened. Wear-resistant layer of crystallizer consists of two layers owing to additional hard chromizing of inner surface of crystallizer housing after hardening. Hardness of first layer of chromium is from 500 HV to 850 HV, while second layer of chromium has hardness from 850 HV to 1050 HV. Proposed invention makes it possible to carry out multiplayer chromizing of crystallizer housing with gradual changing of hardness and considerably reduce cracking on inner surface of crystallizer. Increased thickness of wear-resistant layer in direction of casting provides high temperature of crystallizer wall in zone of melt surface with simultaneous increase of wear protection in direction of casting. EFFECT: improved quality of crystallizer housing. 7 cl, 1 dwg
