SUBSTANCE: process comprises preparing charge with ore, sulfidizing agent, and fusible matters, agglomerating all or part of charge, and smelting to produce nickel matte and slag, said sulfidizing agent being sulfide-metal alloy containing 5-10% nickel, 10-25% sulfur, and iron as balance, which can be used in mixture with other sulfidizing agents such as pyrite and gypsum.
