FIELD: oil producing industry; applicable in development of oil fields with prolonged term of operation and determination of operating thickness of formations during entire operating period. SUBSTANCE: method includes additional plotting of rock natural radioactivity curves in wells with prolonged term of operation. Data on rock radioactivity variation are used for detection of places of salts deposits and for determination of water motion intervals and places of location of residual oil reserves over entire section of formations. Then, oil-saturated intervals are perforated and products are withdrawn.
