FIELD: plasma-jet generating devices. SUBSTANCE: arc- plasma generator designed to generate plasma jet with temperature of 20 000 to 30 000 K primarily used for fast cutting of any metal under factory and field conditions, as well as in seaside and shelf conditions or under water has housing, cutting rod, lead for connecting the latter to power supply, cutting-rod chamber holding working end of cutting rod and provided with pipe union for connecting plasma generator to inert or reducing gas. Cutting-rod chamber communicates with gas channel which in its turn communicates with water channel, and the latter also communicates with annular cavity having holes communicating with pipe union meant for connecting plasma generator to water feeding device. Gas flow in gas channel and water flow coming from annular cavity are compressed and plasma jet is stabilized in gas and water channels to afford plasma jet temperature of 20 000 to 30 000 K and high cutting speed. Gas and water flow in respective channels in direction from cutting-rod chamber so that water vapors, molecular and atomic oxygen are kept away from cutting rod. That is why the latter is made of tungsten and does not burn out during operation of plasma generator with the result that the latter can dispense with automatic device for feeding cutting rod to arc zone as it burns down.
