FIELD: manufacture of building materials. SUBSTANCE: in silicate brick fabrication process comprising preparation of lime-silica binder by mixing carbide lime (acetylene production waste) and preliminarily dried ground sand, forming crude bricks, and hydrothermal treatment thereof in autoclave, utilized sand has fineness modulus 0.7-1.12 and carbide lime has moisture content 2-5% and active CaO content 55-65%. Sand required for preparation of binder is first partially dried to 2.5% moisture or sand with 6% in-pit moisture is used, the both being then dried in drying drum to 0.5-0.8% moisture. Grinding is continued to specific surface 1300-1400 sq.cm/g and lime and sand are mixed under abrasive treatment conditions at their ratio (1.0-1.5):1 Mixing of binder with sand is carried out under steam heating to 70-80 C. Formation of bricks is effected from raw meal with 5-9% moisture under pressure 20-25 MPa and temperature 40- 120 C.
