FIELD: manufacture of metal articles of industrial purpose, in particular, metal wire. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing uniform plastic deformation of wire at the extent of at least 98% by twisting two wires into spiral at predetermined twisting speed in time during thermal processing, with inclination angle of spiral coils to spiral longitudinal axis being 20-58 deg; cleaning produced wire from polycrystalline metal remains. In specific cases, deformation of metal wire is conducted at temperature of (-200)-400 C. Processing mode parameters are set experimentally. Wire monocrystallinity is certified by X-ray-phase analysis. Method allows metal wire to be produced from high-melting point metals, such as tungsten, molybdenum, in the form of thin threads of 0.1-5 micron diameter with monocrystallinity through the entire length of wire. EFFECT: increased efficiency and improved quality of metal wire. 3 cl, 4 ex
