FIELD: measurement technology; location of leak and estimation of its size in underwater pipe lines. SUBSTANCE: electromagnetic radiation from hole of leak is received by means of two panoramic receivers whose frequency re-tuning range is equal to radiation range of transmitter and antennae have circular and cardioid directional patterns; antenna of cardiod pattern is rotated till zero gap coincides with direction of arrival of electromagnetic radiation and this moment is noted; position of hole of leak is determined by minimum of cardioid directional pattern and its size is determined by frequency mark on oscillographic indicator display. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of location of leak due to avoidance of masking signals. 3 dwg
