FIELD: cutting processes and equipment, namely cutting profiled films. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of cutting profiled metallic film with thickness 0.1 mm by means of rotating metallic cutting film with thickness 0.3 mm which forms flat surface with circle like periphery; providing contact of said periphery of cutting film at motion of said film relative to profiled film in such a way that in the result of rubbing of profiled film separating slit is formed; using cutting film with radius of its periphery in range 100 - 500 mm; matching experimentally rotation mode of cutting film with selected material according to condition providing high-speed movement of surface points of its periphery for forming separating slit with sharpened edges; providing minimum removal of material of cutting edge and circumferential revolution number of cutting film equal to 50 m/s. Installation for cutting has apparatus for automatic control, linear electric motor connected with electric drive unit of cutting film for moving it relative to profiled film, device for clamping profiled film in order to fix it at cutting. Clamping device has guiding slit for cutting film and it moves by means of linear electric motor for changing closed and open states of clamping device. Drive unit of cutting film is in the form of induction motor. EFFECT: possibility for cutting metallic profiled strip films whose cut edges have no periodic profile. 9 cl, 6 dwg
