FIELD: medicine, in particular, methods and devices for imparting the shape to the cornea required for correction of the defects of refraction. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in the stages of cornea softening with the aid of a softening agent, application of a template for changing the shape of the cornea to the desired kyphosis and quick stabilization of the cornea tissues so that the cornea would preserve its new configuration. Chemical softening agent, such as glutaric anhydride, is applied onto the cornea for its softening. A template of the preset curvature and configuration is applied to the cornea. Pressure is applied to the template. The template is kept on a sheet during the action of such a stabilizing agent as the source of ultraviolet light located above the template. Ultraviolet light is fed to the cornea. The stabilizing agent stabilizers the tissue so that the cornea would preserve its shape after removal of the template.
