FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel 4-(2-naphthyl)pyridines of the formula (I) wherein R2-R4 mean hydrogen atom, lower alkyl; R1 means hydrogen atom, lower alkyl, alkylamino-group, dialkylaminogroup. Compounds of the formula (I) show luminescence and can be used as luminophores. Method for preparing compounds of the formula (I) involves interaction of mixture of compounds of the formula (II) or the formula (III) with compound of the formula (IV) with alkylammonium sulfite aqueous solution or with addition of organic solvents or with dialkylammonium and free base, or free base solution and alkaline metal sulfite at heating up to 100-230 C. In indicated formulas R2-R4 have above indicated values; R5 is alkyl, alkoxyl; X is anion; R6 is hydrogen atom or lower alkyl, in the case of preparing compounds of the formula (I) wherein R1 is hydrogen atom or lower alkyl, or R6 represents hydroxyl, in the case of preparing compounds of the formula (I) wherein R1 is alkylamino- or dialkylamino-group.
