SUBSTANCE: invention provides novel π-complex compounds of transition metals depicted by formulae Ia: π (Ia) and 1b: (1b), wherein represents π- system; D represents donor atom and A acceptor atom, the two being reversibly interconnected by coordination bond such as to allow donor group to acquire (partial) positive charge and acceptor group to acquire (partial) negative charge, whereas π-system, from one side, and acceptor or donor group, from the other side, are connected to transition metal; M represents transition metal belonging to group 3, 4, 5, or subgroup 6 in Mendeleev system; X represents anionic equivalent; and n is equal to 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 depending on charges of M and π. Compounds of invention can be utilized as catalysts for (co)polymerization of olefins, cycloolefins, alkynes, diolefins, vinyl esters, and vinyl-substituted aromatics.
