FIELD: organic chemistry, antibiotics. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to application of π-systems or metallocenes where transient metal is bound to complex with two π-systems for preparing cycloolefin co(polymers). Cycloolefin (co)polymers for technical aims, with exception for their application in optical memory devices, can be synthesized by (co)polymerization of monomers taken from group of cyclic olefins, α-olefins with two or more carbon atoms and conjugated or non-conjugated diolefins (optimally). Metallocenes or π-complex compounds of formulas (I) or (XIII) by claim 1 where CpI and CpII represent carbanions with cyclopentadienyl-containing structure are used as catalysts; πI and πII represent charged or electrically neutral π-systems; D represents donor atom and A means acceptor atom being D and A are linked by coordinating linkage thus donor group accepts (partial) positive charge and acceptor group accepts (partial) negative charge; M represents transient metal of III, IV, V or VI by-side group of periodic law elements including lanthanides and actinides; X represents anion equivalent and n means depending on M charge 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4.
