FIELD: polymer production. SUBSTANCE: invention proposes production of polyamide via reaction of at least one aminonitrile with water at molar ratio from 1:1 to 1:30 at 100 to 360 C and pressure from 4 to 30 x 106 Pa followed by heating reaction mixture at temperature from 150 to 400 C and pressure lower than first-step reaction pressure, temperature and pressure being selected such as to allow forming first gas phase and first liquid phase. The former is separated from the latter and the latter is treated with gas or water-containing liquid phase at 150 to 400 C and pressure 0.1 to 30 x 106 Pa to give mixture of products. This mixture is condensed at 200 to 350 C and pressure lower than pressure in preceding step, temperature and pressure being selected such as to allow forming second water- and ammonia-containing gas phase and second liquid or second solid phase, or mixture of the two latter, which in each case contain polyamide.
